00 About
A quiet room for people with other jobs.
Ntug is written for the person who has a website to make, a small group to keep it running and little patience for jargon. Our readers include the club secretary, the illustrator with a portfolio, the developer who is tired of explaining the same thing, and the shop owner who wants to understand a choice before making it.
01 Purpose
Start with the need, then the tools
Much publishing advice starts with a product and works backwards to a problem. Ntug starts with the need: what the site has to do, who will look after it, and how much of your time it will ask for. The field guide then explains the parts, so the choice makes sense on its own terms.
We do not sell hosting, templates or courses. Ntug is a set of guides, a decision room and a contact address, and that is all it is meant to be.
02 Audience
Written for people with other jobs
- Makers who run a site alongside a full-time job, and want clear steps they can finish on a weekend.
- Volunteers and club officers who inherit a website and need to understand what they are responsible for.
- Small teams and one-person studios that want fewer surprises from their tools.
03 Voice
Plain, exact and a little unhurried
Our writing borrows from the gallery label: short, specific and generous with context. Each sentence should either tell you something you can act on or explain why a choice matters. We avoid hype, exclamation marks and promises we cannot keep.
When we are unsure, we say so, and we name the tradeoff rather than hiding it.
04 Standards
How we check our own work
- Every claim we make should be something a reader can check for themselves.
- Every guide should be readable with scripts switched off and at a phone width.
- Every page should meet WCAG AA contrast for text, and keyboard focus should always be visible.
Corrections are welcome. Write to us at the address on the contact page.
